it's music monday on the interwebz and i thought i'd share a japanese oldie track that most of my friends otherwise might never hear.

this video was shared with me by my dear friend kwame (who i miss bunches).  i actually posted it last week on dear mr. salaryman, a blog kwame started where i'm a contributor. i really don't post often enough, but we cover japanese pop culture (film, music, etc) and other general "cool stuff" (think giant robot magazine). if this sounds like your cup of tea, check it out!

anyway, i love this!  a friend of mine got me into japanese music from the 60s, 70s, & 80s a while back.  this is a great 80s performance video.  the juxtaposition of 80s pop with traditional japanese in this video is great.  you can hear it in the music and see it in her outfit: a kimono worn in a slouchy 80s style with 80s accessories.  she looks lovely!  the set design is just great, too.
