kathy's birthday party was a few weeks ago but i wanted to post about parties twice in a row so i can seem cool on the internet.
skinnybones and i found 12 packs of kirin ichiban (my favorite beer) for $6 and some change. a steal! we bought two. i don't think i've ever really gone to a party with a boyfriend--just cramps my style, yknow? but skinnybones came along and it was fun. we hopped on the light rail with no real plan, just one of the 12 packs and my book. we ended up getting off at the station with no ride, but my friend picked me up in a burger king parking lot even though i hadn't seen him in months--what a stand-up guy.
it was a costume party, the theme being people from time's list of the top 100 most influential people for 2010. i always thought that nobody ever adhered to themes but a surprising number of people dressed up: steve jobs, sarah palin, elton john (yeah wtf, right?) and banksy were all in attendance.
taylor swift is on the list, too, by the way. i don't have a problem with taylor swift or anything, but uh, what? i'm not sure if this speaks more about the dubious quality of this list or the frivolity of the world we live in.
i wore a black romper (i kind of hate that word, but that's what it was) and a giant bow (i mean giant) and everyone thought i was supposed to be lady gaga. nope, that's just the way i dress. it was the weekend of fanime, though, so with all the cosplayers about i wasn't the weirdest girl wandering around downtown.
my dear friend and cool blogger on the internets, mark, was there, too. ya'll should check out his blog because 1) he updates regularly. it's like something to look forward to. A GLIMMER OF HOPE AT THE END OF EACH DAY and 2) he blogs about yuppie stuff like his boring job and living in the city, which is a nice change of pace, i think, from the usual things people blog about (being lost in life, being pregnant or post-pregnant aka a parent, being a super cool world traveler, etc etc etc)
