this sunday's hike was just my dear friend kathy & i at alum rock park.  it's near my house, so i hope to go back soon!  there were many interesting moss/mold formations:

hike & sweets

no hike this sunday, so i'm wistfully posting pictures of last week's outing instead.  four or so miles at edgewood preserve with kathy, tracy & mark, some of my favorite college buddies ♥
 tunez
 bruises are hard to photograph

 tracy & banana slug
figures in the mist. kagero-za?? it was a really foggy few days in the bay
cobwebs in the horseshoe print--"the trail is cold"
turned out we weren't the first people to the top of the hill
i forget the french name for these, but they were exquisite.  at pamplemousse patisserie in redwood city.  i wish this were closer to home because they have a lot of macaron flavors! but damn, macarons are expensive.  i understand, though...i've made them and it's no easy task
 plus

the fog.  this actually turned out kinda cool, i wish we'd made an impromptu short movie or something

a couple pictures kathy took at previous hikes--

yes, i dress like this when i go hiking (when it isn't too extreme).  the hat is a godsend! keeps out the sun.

moar hikes

More hiking with friends, including my dear twin Mark!  This week we headed up to Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve, which is kind of crowded but still cool.  We did 5 miles this time.  All my pictures are too bright.

kevin garnett energy bites....the peyton manning energy bites were better.

until the next hike, my friends.

hike!

during my trip i spent a lot of time at various parks.  if i never sleep in a tent (or a car, for that matter) again, i'll count myself lucky.  however, i did develop an appreciation for hiking.  my good friend kathy has started up a sort of informal weekly hiking group.  this was a 6 mile trek we took around monte bello open space preserve.    the trees were all covered in this thick moss (actually, i'm pretty sure it isn't moss). pretty!

nick & i still have a yearlong national parks pass and i want to take advantage of that, but the logical choices (i.e. yosemite) would mean snow this time of year, so i guess it'll have to wait.  sometime soon i'd love to see death valley & big sur...maybe i'll be setting up a tent again sooner than i'd anticipated.
